CALL FOR FOOD HEROES

St Albans Food Rescue Hub currently supports 300 ppl a week with fresh fruit/veg/milk/eggs in St Albans and neighbouring villages.

With unfortunate demand for the service increasing they are in need of more volunteers! If you can spare an hour or so a week to help people in need then please get in touch.

These are the types of tasks they need help with.

• SUPERMARKET COLLECTIONS
  Could you become one of our awesome Rescue Rangers and collect surplus food items put aside for us at local supermarkets? If saving perfectly edible food from waste is your thing – please do get in touch.
• PACKING BOXES
  Would you be interested in joining our wonderful gang of volunteers who sort and pack the items into beautiful boxes at our well ventilated unit Mon – Thurs 10am to 12pm? Training provided. We’d love to hear from you.
• DOORSTEP DELIVERIES
  There are many vulnerable residents who for various reasons cannot get out to collect their boxes; our dedicated DBS cleared drivers have been delivering to doorsteps for over 2 years now. If you’re up for joining these champs, please contact us today.

They also provide local schools with bread boxes. If you, a neighbour or friends would like to sign up to become a bread buddy and share the bread love with your contacts – get in touch, there is mountains of bread for us to shift every week!
