Caravanserai – St Albans Newest Market

The concept of caravanserai, comes to the historical city of St Albans every second Thursday of the month.

What is a Caravanserai?

Caravanserais, supported the flow of commerce, information and people across the network of trade routes covering Asia, North Africa and Southeast Europe, most notably the Silk Road.

So you can expect to find gorgeous handmade Pakistani dupattas, sumptuous traditional Indian desserts, authentic Bangladeshi plants, tasty Moroccan tagines, handcrafted homewares from all the Arab nations and henna artists whose skills have been passed down from generation to generation.

Pop along to soak up the flavours and colours from across the globe and support St Albans very onwn homegrown specialised talent.

The New market is the brain child of local Business Woman and community champion Raihaanah Ahmed.

Caravanserai has been a great platform for emerging businesses and a new lease of life for those who have faced great financial loss in the last year. All the traders are Herts based or regular market traders. All are small businesses working the extra hours around family obligations and for some it is a secondary stream of income to make ends meet. ” Says Raihaana
