The St Albans Youth Project are running a series of “camps” of the summer as part of the Hertfordshire Holiday Activity Programme ( Happy) for 8 to five year olds from 26th July to 22nd August.
The aim of the camps is to support those families who receive benefits-related free school meals, and looking for something to do during the summer school holidays.
Thanks to funding from Hertfordshire Community Foundation Herts Sports Partnership Hertfordshire County Council they are able to provide the activities at no charge to children who are in receipt of free school meals. The summer camps are open to all. This is an amazing way to get the Children active and busy during the holidays, make some new friends and get some valuable summer memories.
The Summer Camps will provide a free Halal meal for all.
St Albans Youth Project is initiative set up by Sopwell Community Trust. This Summers programme has been organised and led by Raihaanah Ahmed, A trustee of SCT. Her aim is to engage and provide opportunities for those who face barriers to accessing private company led holiday activities.
She has enlisted the help and expertise of local residents including Akik Rahman, Amik Khan and Nick Samways who are keen to give back in their home city of St Albans.
