A new community-led mural project is set to transform a vandalised wall in Fleetville into a vibrant public artwork designed by local residents.

The project, titled Tell Your Story, is being led by Tayiba, a student from the London School of Muralism. The initiative aims to restore a neglected space by turning it into a mural that reflects the voices, memories and creativity of the local community.
Rather than commissioning a pre-designed artwork, the project places residents at the centre of the creative process. People of all ages are invited to take part in shaping the mural’s design through a series of free workshops taking place in February.
Two design sessions have been scheduled:
- 17 February, 1–3pm – Fleetville Community Centre
- 19 February, 1–3pm – CHA & Nasta, 14 Hatfield Road
No artistic experience is required. The workshops are open to everyone and aim to gather stories, ideas and themes that represent Fleetville’s identity. Organisers say the goal is to create a mural that feels authentic and rooted in the lived experiences of local residents.
The painting phase of the project will run from 18 March to 8 April, with volunteers working together to bring the final design to life. Community members will have the opportunity to participate directly in the painting process, helping to transform the once-vandalised wall into a lasting symbol of pride and collaboration.
In addition to community participation, the project is being supported through public donations. Contributions will help fund high-quality paints and materials to ensure the mural remains vibrant and durable for years to come.

Organisers hope the finished mural will stand as a visible reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together — turning neglect into creativity and shared ownership.
